Christmas 2021

Continuing the tradition started on Christmas 2020, our Service Co-ordinator, Kirsty Vance, decided again to offer free homemade Christmas dinners to those of our service users who would not be with family or be able to make their own.

This year, 22 meals were made and distributed. This was more than twice as many as the previous year!

Kirsty was up at 5am on Christmas day to ensure she had plenty time to cook everything fresh for the 3 course meal.

The service users were treated to a starter of lentil soup, followed by roast turkey with all the trimmings, and then a delicious trifle to finish.

It took 3 hours to deliver and serve the meals. Senior Support Worker, Carole Maxwell, and Support Worker, Lynda Bell, were on hand to help with the distribution. Lynda had also very kindly bought gifts for the service users so they had something to open on the day. Lynda said that when they were delivering the meals and gifts the service users were “so thankful, happy and very grateful, and generally just pleased to see us.”

The dinners were a huge hit all round. Here is some of the feedback Kirsty received;

“Our Christmas dinner was delicious and very welcome – your soup was to die for! You’re a star.”

“It was a delight to just sit down to it.”

“I was blown away. So very kind.”

“It was a guid thick bit of turkey, a guid plate fi, great dinner!”

“We were so grateful. It was super to have it brought in to us.”

“I went for a wee bit of trifle and ended up eating the lot! Left a lovely taste.”

“I was over the moon. It was lovely.”

 All of us at Dalriada are very proud of Kirsty. She is an amazingly generous, kind hearted soul.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year!
